School of Art and Design


The School of Art and Design offers five programs, including Product Art and Design (with concentrations in Product Design and Fashion Design), Art and Design (with a concentration in Print Advertisement), Digital Media Design (with concentrations in Animation Design and Production, and Game Art and Design), Environmental Art and Design, and Industrial Design. Our Product Art and Design program is recognized as a key nation-level program; Environmental Art and Design, a key province-level program; and Art and Design, a key institute-level program. The programs are provided in the context of a prospering creative industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area that promises to create an array of job opportunities. The employment rates for our graduates exceeded 99.8% over the past years.

We are committed to building a large pool of high-caliber professors that are also practicing professionals in their fields with an international perspective. Through close cooperation with the business world, we aim to equip our students with market-oriented skills. Regarded as one of key provincial training centers for vocational students, the school boasts state-of-the-art educational hardware, with over twenty off and on-campus laboratories and training centers. Clubs and societies, exemplified by E-space Design Club and Rainbow Animation Club, were set up to enrich students’ lives and experience outside the classroom. Various activities organized to improve our students’ design capability have proven rewarding. Working hand in hand with our faculty members, our students have won over a hundred awards in the past three years, including First Prize in National Creative Skills Competition for Vocational Students, Best Digital Design in Guangdong Division of National 3D Innovation Design Competition, and Best Printed Advertisement in China-Japan Design Works Exhibition 2016. 


Product Art Design Program

(National Key Program)

  

About Product Art Design:

Launched in 2002, the Product Art Design Program was recognized as a national key program for vocational students. In cooperation with the business world and the industry, our faculty, consisting of senior industrial designers and associate professors, create a course plan that focus on cultivating technical and critical skills required for students to succeed in their careers. So far, this school-business partnership has produced excellent students who are sought after by enterprises. The employment rate for our graduates is over 98% in recent years, while more than 91% find jobs matching their program.

  

Product Design Concentration:

Program objectives:

To cultivate high-caliber talents equipped with transferable skills related to product design innovation, visual design, 3D modeling and rendering, etc.

Fashion Design Concentration

Program objectives:

To equip students with skills reqruired for fashion design, fashion production, planning and marketing, handicrafts making techniques, and company management.

Art and Design Program (Print advertisement design concentration)


About Art and Design Program:

Art and Design Program (Print advertisement concentration) is an Institute-level Key Program with 432 registered students. Our students have received positive feedbacks on the art and design projects they participated in, and have won a number of awards in various art and design competitions. Various training sites are made available to our students, including Guangke-Corad Public Creative Training Center of Guangdong and five on-campus design studios. The employment rate for our graduates is over 99.8% in the cultural and creative industries in the Pearl River Delta Region.

  

Program objectives:

To train students to be high-caliber graphic designers, advertising designers, packaging designers, and so forth.

Book Binding Design, Advertising Design, Packaging Design, Corporate Identity Design, Layout Design, Typeface Design, Sketching, Rule of Thirds, Photography and Cinematography, Computer-assisted Design, Advertising Planning and Copywriting, Graphic Design, and Printing Techniques and Processes.

  

Industrial Design

  

About Industrial Design:

The program is characterized by the combination and interplay of art and technologies. We equip students with the knowledge and competence required to analyze and leverage the relationship between different elements in industrial design, such as the relations between product shape and coloration, structure and function, materials and shape and processing, product and user, environment and market. Currently we have 237 registered students. With a strong faculty team comprised of senior industrial designers and PhD degree holders and the robust support from numerous partnership enterprises in Zhuhai, Zhonghsan, and Shenzhen, the employment rate for our graduates is more than 98%.


Program objectives:

To train students to be high-caliber product designers, product developers, design managers, and so forth.

Environmental Art and Design


About Environmental Art and Design Program:

Started since 2002, Environmental Art and Design Program is recognized as one of the Key Programs of leading National Senior Vocational Schools. The program was listed as a Key Program of leading Senior Vocational Schools in September 2016. Two months later it was appointed as a Province-level “Brand Two” Program. We have 302 registered students, and the employment rate for our graduates is more than 98%, while more than 89% find jobs matching their program.

To equip students with the skills and knowledge required to become high-caliber professionals in environmental landscape design and interior design.

Digital Media Design Program


About Digital Media Design Program:

The Digital Media Design Program offers animation design and production concentration, and game art and design concentration with creativity at the core of our programs. Our students are encouraged to leverage multimedia technologies to create art works in the form of games, animations, and cartoons. The program started out as the Multimedia Technologies program. Currently there are 427 registered students and a faculty team whose members are all recognized as professors as well as practicing experts. The employment rate for our graduates is more than 98%, while more than 88% find jobs matching their program.


Animation design and production concentration


Program objectives:

To equip students with the skills and knowledge required to work as animation designers and creators, 2D/3D animation designers and producers, film editors, and game art designers in the creative industries.

To equip students with the skills and knowledge required to design game engines, original animations, characters, scenes, motions, interfaces, and so on.
