About School of Architectural Engineering

The School of Architectural Engineering was founded in 1999. We offer five programs: Architectural Engineering Technology, Architectural Decoration Engineering Technology, Property Management (Real Estate Management) and Construction Cost Estimation. Among them, Architectural Engineering Technology is recognized as the Institute-level 'Internet Plus' Specialty Program, and Architectural Decoration Engineering Technology is an Institute-level Key Program.

We have a strong faculty team accomplished in theoretical studies and rich in practical experience. There are 90 full- and part-time teachers in our school, including two professors and four Ph.D holders, nearly 20 associate professors and senior professional title holders, and about 40 recognized as both professors and practicing professionals. In the past five years, our faculty has authored or co-authored 14 textbooks and 3 books, published more than 100 papers, obtained 14 patents, and won one Scientific Research Excellence Award. Over 2000 students are currently enrolled in our school. We are committed to training talents in collaboration with enterprises and offering students the best possible educational hardware. In 2004, we are appointed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Construction as a National Talent Training Center in Construction Skills. We boast 17 training rooms and have set up training sites with a number of enterprises, include Vanke Property Development Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou Times Property Management Co., Ltd.. The centers offer training programs that are tailored to the needs of our partnering companies.  There are more than 100 off-campus training sites in the Pearl River Delta region.

  

We prioritize skill development and have achieved remarkable results. Our students have won over 50 prizes in various skills competitions at both provincial and national level in recent years. Our graduates have been in hot demand, with an employment rate over 99% upon graduation.

 

1. Architectural Engineering Technology

Started in 1993, the Architectural Engineering Technology program was recognized as a flagship program that combines Internet with BIM. We have a strong faculty team accomplished in theoretical studies and rich in experience. Among our 16 full-time teachers, there are one professor, seven associate professors and senior engineers, and three Ph.D degree holders. Over 90 percent full-time teachers have obtained at least a master’s degree. We also have 20 part-time teachers, among whom five teachers have obtained a senior professional title and six are experts with intermediate titles. Nine out of ten of our faculty have been recognized as both professors and practicing professionals. In recent years, our teaching team has conducted 3 province-level natural science fund projects and 7 Institute-level research projects, received 2 million yuan of research fund from enterprises and institutions, and published more than 40 papers. Over 700 students are currently enrolled. Following a teaching philosophy that focuses on both core competences and all-around development, we aim to equip students with the competence and skills desired on the job market. Our students have won the first prizes in skills competitions at national and provincial levels.

We have built training sites to simulate a workplace environment for students. We have also signed agreements to set up off-campus training sites with 26 large and medium-sized construction enterprises in Guangdong, including the Fourth Construction Engineering Company of Guangdong Province and the Shenzhen Branch of Guangdong Provincial Architectural Design Institute.

Our programs have been successful, with an employment rate of over 99% for our graduates.

 

2. Architectural Decoration Engineering Technology

The Architectural Decoration Engineering Technology program was started in 1993 and listed as one of the Institute-level Key Program in 2012. We have a strong faculty team accomplished in theoretical studies and rich in experience, with 10 full-time teachers and 15 part-time teachers. There are three teachers with senior titles, and five teachers with intermediate titles. 90% of our faculty have been recognized as both professors and practicing professionals. Over 400 students are currently enrolled.

With a talent development plan that incorporates courses covering designing, construction, and budgeting, we equip students with the relevant expertise. We have 14 off-campus internship & training centers and seven on-campus training sites including a decoration construction technology training room, a model training room, a space design room, and a drawing training room. Zhong Yi, president of the Zhuhai Indoor Decoration Industry Association came on board, working part time as our program leader. We have established two student studios where students can hone their technical skills and enhance their creativity and entrepreneurial capabilities. In 2017, one entrepreneurship incubator and one student start-up company was established. In the belief that competitions can help improve our teaching standards, we have encouraged our students to take part in all kinds of competitions. Our students have won many awards including the first prizes in the national professional skills competitions and graduation design work contests.

The employment rate for our graduates has been over 99% in recent years.

 

3. Property Management

Launched in 2004, Property Management program is supported by a strong faculty team accomplished in theoretical studies and rich in experience. They include 7 full-time teachers and 15 part-time teachers. Among them two are experts with senior professional titles and five have obtained an intermediate professional title. 90% of our faculty have been recognized as professors and practicing professionals. They have also authored and co- authored four textbook and published over 20 papers in recent years. Over 300 students are currently enrolled. We are committed to training talents in collaboration with enterprises and offering students the best possible educational hardware. We boast four training rooms and training sites that are operated with enterprises (partners). Our partnering enterprises include Vanke Property Development Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Times Property Management Co., Ltd.. The centers offer training programs that are tailored to the needs of our partnering companies. We have over 20 off-campus training centers in the Pearl River Delta region.

Our focus on competency-based training has achieved remarkable results. Nearly 30% of our graduates become first-line or middle managers five years after graduation. Our graduates have been in hot demand, with an employment rate of over 99% upon graduation

 

4. Construction Cost Estimation

Launched in 2010, the Construction Cost Estimation program features a strong faculty team accomplished in theoretical studies and rich in experience. We have 10 full-time teachers and 20 part-time teachers, including one professor, one Ph.D degree holder, four associate professors and senior professional title holders, and four with an intermediate professional title. 90% of our faculty have been recognized as professors and practicing professionals. Our faculty have been honored with Excellent Teachers at Institute level and above. They have also authored and co-authored one textbook and published a number of papers in recent years. Over 600 students are currently enrolled. We offer various hardware and materials including construction cost estimation software, architectural engineering model, multi-media projectors, computers, and construction drawings. What’s more, we have a number of training rooms and more than 10 off-campus training sites. We have also maintained long-term partnerships with a number of enterprises that are based in the Pearl River Delta Region such as Zhuhai Branch of Guangdong Huayu Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Branch of Guangdong Yongdao Consulting Engineering Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Zhengdafeng Consulting Engineering Co., Ltd., and Guangdong Building Materials Network.

We give prominence to training students with practice skills. Our approach of having competitions complement classroom teaching has achieved remarkable results with students winning prizes in various skills competitions at both provincial and national levels in recent years. We have established a teaching system that’s in line with the Cost Estimator Examination in Guangdong Province. The annual pass rate of around 80% for our students in recent years has been much higher than the average in Guangdong Province. Our graduates have been in hot demand, with an employment rate of over 99% upon graduation.
